Funny; I could have sworn I was checking out a website I have deep respect and admiration for and have contributed to in the past, but it appears instead that I have stumbled onto a place I really don't recognize.  I have a faint recollection of this site and its standards, content, and contributors, but my oh my, it seems things have changed.  I'll be heading out soon, not for good, mind you - I just want to enjoy my Saturday - but I'd like to make a couple of points first, if you care to follow me below the fold.

The right wing talking-points memo generators somehow feel that the answer to questions about Ann Coulter are as simple as making a false claim about HBO talk show host Bill Maher.  They self righteously claim (without watching the show) that Maher wished death on Dick Cheney on his broadcast Friday night.  Of course, the entire event is documented on his TV show Real Time with Bill Maher, and upon watching it (I have posted the clip of the show below), it becomes clear that their charge simply isn't true.  In fact, just below is an opinion from a direct source concerning Bill Maher's comments...

When will Virginia Republicans stop embarassing Virginia?

Apparently, the plan is NEVER.  I don't neeed to go into the specifics of Jim Gilmore, George Allen, Virgil Goode, Tom Davis, and the scads of other Virginia Republicans who cannot keep their mouths shut nor act like decent Americans, but I DO need to help spread the lastest news focusing on Virginia Republican bigotry.  Actually, strike that; this is flat out racism.

The attacks on Virgil Goode just keep on comin'.  As reported yesterday, Goode's office window was "vandalized" by a pretty funny person who is awesome at stenciling.  Additionally, Virgil Goode was asked out for coffee by the man he demonized, Rep. Ellison, which proves that one of our own new Democratic Representatives in the United Sates Congress is taking the high road with class and integrity.

Now, one of the few people who can help get this story covered and watched by Virginians and Americans alike who may have missed this atrocity, speaks out.

Let me start off by saying that in no way am I condoning acts of vandalism.  While the pic below is humorous, poignant, and truthful, it is obvious that this addition to Virgil Goode's office door was certainly not requested nor paid for by the representaive from Virginia.  In the end, the taxpayers will pay for its removal, and many people will shake their heads in disgust.

That being said, follow me for awesomeness.

Now, this is interesting.  Usually, America is inundated with Christians claiming that WalMart is A-OK in their book because of their new-found willingness to shout "Merry Christmas" at their customers (see original deision here), or their initial refusal to sell Plan-B in their pharmacy (they have since come to their senses). Today, we see that the tides have turned.  It turns out that many Christian organizations are shunning WalMart because of their unfair business policies.

Usually, I try to write my own thoughts and link to a newsworthy item for your viewing pleasure. Tonight, I really don't have much to say.  The article in its entirety and the accompanying video are pretty much gold on their own.

I wanted to take a moment to give a heartfelt congrats to Senator-elect Jim Webb (D-VA) on the birth of his fifth child. Jim Webb and Hong Le Webb welcomed the birth of their baby girl into the world today.  Senator-elect Jim Webb has four children from previous marriages. The birth of Georgia LeAnh marks the first time Senator-elect Jim Webb has had a baby with his present wife, Hong Webb.

A few days ago, NLS reported that Jim Webb's son's vehicle was next to another military vehicle that was attacked which resulted in the death of 3 marines a few weeks ago in Iraq.

Because Not Larry Sabato is an open site, many Republicans post there.  The general concensus from numerous people was that Ben was lying, or spreading unconfirmed gossip.

Ah, that Jim Webb.  Not only is he a terrible writer, but he is also a bully, a boor, and a meany-mean pants to the president.  Today we learned from my buddy Liberal Progressive that Jim Webb is also a...wait for it...pain in the ass.  Well, that is not all pholks.  I learned today that in addition to all of these horrible personality traits Jim Webb possesses, he is also...

A HORRIBLE, BORING COMPANION AT DINNER.

By now, the entire blogosphere and much of the MSM knows the story of Jim Webb and his dinner at the White House where George Bush was incredibly rude and did not resemble in the slightest a president of anything, much less the great United States of America.  Today, the Republicans are madder than a wet cat, declaring that Senator-elect Jim Webb (D-VA) was "rude and disrespectful" to George Bush.  They are all loudly claiming that a man who is such a "loose cannon" cannot be trusted in the Congress.  They "can't believe" that Jim Webb didn't just shut up and smile, and LIE to the President's face about his feelings, just to "respect" the President and his decisions which affect the entire country (except him, his family, and his administration).  "The HORROR", they say!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW...

Well, of course he doesn't...as of now.  However, if Los Angeles attorney Gloria Allred has her way re: Michael Richards and his racist tirade, then Richards may just have to pay the men he insulted.

This is going to be short, until transcripts and a video is available, but this was INCREDIBLE on Scarborough Country a few minutes ago.

Basically, the bit consisted of Lawrence O'Donnell making his case AGAINST the war in Iraq and FOR the perhaps needed draft spoken of by Rangel against an indignant and VERY ANGRY Joe Scarborough and Terry Halt (with Michael Crowley doing a whole lotta nuthin on the side).

Well, we all know that after the latest polls today, George Allen will have no choice but to continue baseless and vicious attacks on Jim Webb.  I went through google news, and found the next "bombshell" the George Allen campaign will undobutedly drop on Virginians in their quest to make our state the laughing stock of the political arena.
